Melges Performance Sailboats is now offering a new cockpit style for the 2018 MC Scow. SailZing viewed the new boat and talked with Andy Burdick at the ILYA MC Invitational on Lake Beulah.
In response to customer feedback, Melges designed the new cockpit with the following features.
- Open space under the side decks, providing a deck edge to aid hiking to leeward
- Bilge board slots visible from the cockpit
- Removed center deck forward of the transom (similar to newer model MCs)
- Easy access to control lines in the backbone
Melges will offer the MC with both the existing closed sides cockpit and the new style. See the latest edition of Inside Melges for information.
