Getting ready to sail an Opti can seem complex, especially for new sailors and parents. The class rules dictate many safety items and tuning/rigging limits. To go fast, boat and sails need to be tuned for the wind conditions.
We reviewed the available books, internet resources, and the 2018 class rules changes to develop an up-to-date and complete pre-race checklist. We used the format and much of the content from the McLaughlin 2010 checklist, found on the McLaughlin FAQs site. We added references to the specific class rules for each item, and also added some of our own thoughts on things to check.
